Admission Policy

DIS-G is committed to successfully serving students with learning needs and providing a clear and transparent application process. Admissions decisions are based on a careful assessment of not only the applicant’s needs but also the needs of our currently enrolled students. Decisions are made based on a complete application and provision of all requested information to ensure that we have a complete picture of each student’s needs and what needs to be in place to support their success at school.

The Superintendent / School Principal and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) are authorized to admit students when they determine that adequate provision can be made for the needs of students

Definition:

A child has a learning difficulty if they:

  • Struggle to learn more prominently than the majority of children of the same age.
  • Have a disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of educational facilities.
  • Have had an assessment with an external agent (i.e., Educational Psychologist, Occupational Therapist) which provides data regarding student strengths, challenges, and suggested teaching/learning strategies.
